He demanded cash for silver I lost

I am disgusted by the way I was treated by some man some time ago. I was at the local theatre with my husband last month and when I was back home I noticed that my silver necklace was missing. I must have lost it somewhere on the way or at the theatre. Unfortunately when I went back to the theatre and asked if somebody found my necklace the answer was that there was nothing found in the theatre. The necklace was a gift from my mother and it was very precious for me and I was ready to do anything possible to get it back. I put up an advertisement in which I asked if someone found my silver necklace. After few days somebody did call me. A man told me that he found a silver necklace on the street. He described it and he said when he found it. Everything was correct but when I asked him when he could give me back my necklace he demanded cash for silver necklace. I was shocked. I really believed that I will get it back easily but nowadays everything is about the money. He said that he will get cash for silver necklace or he will sell it and will not contact to me anymore. I was so desperate to get it back that I decided to gave money to this man. He got his cash for silver necklace and I got back me precious necklace. But still I am disgusted by the way I was treated.
